Specification Tester

Find the gaps before they become implementation problems.

Learn to explore a proposed system as a user and as a critical reviewer. Simulate actions, challenge business flows and check whether the specification provides a clear, consistent outcome.

Included in every subscription, alongside all other released career tracks.

Test the reasoning behind the experience.

This track is for software and quality professionals who want to challenge expected behaviour before and during delivery. Develop scenarios that expose missing decisions, contradictions and untested assumptions.

Walk through user actions

Describe what a person does, what information they provide and what should happen next.

Challenge business flows

Explore permissions, transitions, exceptions and interactions between processes.

Separate evidence from assumption

Check whether an outcome follows from the specification or depends on a rule nobody has agreed.

Report findings clearly

Record the starting conditions, steps, expected outcome and gap so the appropriate owner can act.

“I enter a username and select Sign up.”

The email and password fields are empty. What should the person see? Which fields are required? Is an account created? Can the person recover without losing valid input?

Use a simulated journey to inspect the rules behind the form. Then widen the investigation: consider duplicate accounts, invitation requirements and the effect of interrupted registration. Turn an unclear outcome into a specific finding with a traceable requirement.

Make findings reproducible.

Practise creating scenarios, expected outcomes, simulation records, coverage notes and issue reports. Learn to distinguish a gap in the specification from an implementation defect or an unsupported assumption.

Build capability through practice, feedback and assessment against the track’s standard. When more evidence is needed, complete the required remediation before an eligible reassessment.

Your questions, answered.

Does simulation replace testing the finished software?

No. Simulation helps reveal gaps in the proposed behaviour. The implementation still needs functional testing, regression testing and other verification appropriate to the system.

Can an AI simulation prove that the application is correct?

A simulated outcome is evidence about the interpretation of the specification. It is not proof that deployed software behaves that way. The track teaches you to recognise that distinction.

Is this only about clicking through forms?

No. You also explore business rules, permissions, state changes and the interactions between whole processes.

Ask what happens next-and why.

ASTAPIO provides the AI used in training. No separate AI provider account or bill is required.
